 Information about our Media Center

Mrs. Ficklen, Media Specialist--a little bit about me!
This is my 13th year at Springfield Elementary as the media specialist.  I worked at Riverview Elementary for 6 years prior to coming to SFES.  I graduated with a business degree from UNC Chapel Hill when I was YOUNG!  I proceeded to earn a Masters from USC in Personnel.  After working a year in that field, I decided to stay home with my 3 girls, but returned  to get my masters in library science at East Carolina when the girls were all finished with elementary school.  I love my job, I love reading, I love going to the beach with my husband and family, and I love being a GRAMMY to my sweet Gracie and Parker and Scarlett.  Email me with any questions at ficklens@fortmillschools.org

Book Donations and other:

We LOVE any books you are willing to donate!  Used, new, paperback, hardback!
WE also have a Birthday Book Bunch program in which we invite you to donate 20 dollars to the library to purchase 2 new books!  Your student's name will be placed inside the book and they will be the first to check out the book!

Our library also collects used ink cartridges and old cell phones as part of a year long fundraiser.  Just drop them by the office or stop in at the library!

The library is always in need of 100 piece puzzles, 24 piece puzzles, kleenex, pencils, starburst candy, and new or old greeting cards which we magically turn into bookmarks..

Volunteers:

I welcome any volunteers for shelving, making copies or bookmarks and especially for help with the bookfairs.  Please email me if interested.  Sally Ficklen
